Open Competition Booking Process

Tain Golf Club has a packed calendar of varied Open Competitions for all ages and stages of players.

Kicking off with a Texas Scramble in March the competition heats up along with the weather through the Gents & Ladies Spring Open in April, Senior Gents Open Stableford in May, Ladies Senior Open Stableford and the Ross Shire County Cup in June, to the hugely popular Tain Golf Week in August, and much more besides – through to the Autumn Open at the end of September.

Monthly Club Competitions

There are a whole raft of matchplay and monthly trophy, medal, cup and shield club competitions to participate in at Tain Golf Club in Gents, Ladies and Senior categories.

Advice of upcoming competitions, and the conditions attached to entry, is posted on the clubhouse notice board each month.

Booking for club competitions opens a month before the date of the competition.

Members can book online or make use of the touch screen in the hall of the clubhouse if they don’t have internet access. Another alternative is to contact the Club office where Dorothy will be happy to assist with bookings and other competition enquiries, such as rules and timings.

Tain Golf Club allows the use of buggies in competitions, and also the use of a device that measures distance only to obtain distance information.

Inter-Club Competitions

Being located in the heartland of golf in the Scottish Highlands our members are always keen to test their golfing prowess against teams from other clubs in the area, both at home and away.

These occasions are enjoyed as much for their camaraderie as for the competition, which is not to say that inter club competitions are not hotly contested by Tain Golf Club members.

We participate by invitation in some regular local competitions such as the Jimmy Miller Quaich at Brora, the Dornoch Firth League, the Dornoch Bridge Match at Bonar Bridge and the Northern Counties Cup.

Whether you’d like to play or support our Tain teams in these inter club matches keep an eye on the notice board in the Club House for information of upcoming competitions.
